Research Methods Workshop · Identifying Metaphors in Discourse

Designed and delivered a two-hour workshop for 38 participants, combining explanation with hands-on practice. Demonstrated how corpus methods can scale up metaphor analysis from close reading to the systematic examination of larger discourse datasets.

2025–2026

Guest Lecturer · Lancaster University

Delivered a postgraduate lecture on discourse and argumentation for LING421 Corpus Linguistics. Used real research examples to demonstrate concordance, keyword, collocation and discourse analysis. Co-marked 38 postgraduate coursework submissions and provided written feedback.

2024 & 2026

Corpus Linguistics Summer School Workshop Tutor

Supported hands-on workshops for mixed cohorts of 68–88 students, researchers and practitioners. Topics included corpus-based discourse analysis, corpus building, online communication, semantic annotation and data visualisation, with practical LancsBox demonstrations.

2020–2023

Teaching Assistant · The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

Supported postgraduate modules in Theories of Translation and Translation Studies, and the undergraduate module Translation and Chinese Society. Designed seminars using authentic Chinese-English media texts and contributed to coursework and examination assessment.
